Michelle has spent the past 24 years as a nurse. She understands the stress that so many Pennsylvania families are under. In addition to concerns about their health and health care insurance, they fear job loss, low wages, rising housing costs, and increasingly unaffordable college tuitions for their children.

Michelle and her husband Ray have experienced many of these same concerns. Shortly after they were married, Ray's mother was downsized from her job, and due to a pre-existing condition, she was denied health insurance. A year later, at the age of 58, she lost her life to a treatable condition.

When the Affordable Care Act legislation was introduced, Michelle committed to do she could to prevent other families from suffering the same tragedy of a preventable death due to inaccessible and unaffordable health care.

We can do better. As a nurse, Michelle knows that too many unqualified people are making critical health care decisions--decisions that change the lives of children and families. Too many families are just barely hanging on.

Michelle knows how to listen and how to help. She's held the hands of those who were dying and comforted those who lost their loved ones. Our Pennsylvania legislators are not listening. Together WE can create the best policy prescriptions for all our families.  Michelle wants to replace the influence of corporate lobbyists with the importance of policies best for Pennsylvania families: quality jobs, health care for all, free college tuition, and clean air and water.  Every day, Michelle will carry with her a folder with “citizens of PA-38” on the cover and inside will be your stories, your concerns, and your ideas.

Michelle Boyle is a mother, spouse and nurse who has long advocated for better health care for patients in the Pittsburgh region. This year, citizens in Pennsylvania's State Senate district 38 were calling on her to serve.  Our district and our state are facing big problems including health insecurity, joblessness, out of reach higher education, and undrinkable water.  She's committed to working together to solve these nightmare problems and to give everyone in SD 38 their shot at a better life.
